EGA National History
EGA stands for Embroiderers' Guild Of America. This is a national, non-profit organization that supports, teaches, preserves, and promotes the art of embroidery.
The EGA was started in 1958 in New York city as a branch of the Embroiderers' Guild of London. In 1970, EGA withdrew from the London guild and formed the Embroiderers' Guild of America. There are currently over 300 chapters, including one cyber (internet) chapter in the EGA. Chapters are divided into 13 different regions that span the United States.
The EGA is open to all that are interested in the art of embroidery - from beginner to professionals.
